Sick day

I called in sick today at work. I didn't do too much but I did take the opportunity to make Paul's favorite soup, Cajun crab chowder. He will be happy when he comes home, YUMMY! Things seem to be getting a fraction better with Amanda. I heard through the grapevine that her former boyfriend is in jail now, I assume for drug possession, I hope he rots in there. She is looking forward to homecoming. She looks stunning in her dress. I would post pics here but I am still learning. although I am getting better. I downloaded two things for my blogger, called picasa and hello, 2 photo editing programs so I guess I am here for the long run. I am still new on how all this stuff works.
I am 50% done with the "17 scarf" that I started for Amanda. I reall haven't worked on the town and country cape since I last spoke here about it. I want to finish the scarf first, even though she can't wear it for another few weeks. One of my favorite times of year is coming up: FALL. I love the holiday Halloween and all the meanings behind it.
Its supper time and I am hungry
Ciao!

Faire day

Today is suposed to be a day of rest, however, I have to get ready to go to the Bloomsburg Faire with my Co-worker and good friend Cindy who shares a hotel room with me on out of town meetings. I have started the Town and Country Cape from lionbrand in a nice beigey color. I will be taking my knitting with me as I always do to the out of town meetings but I don't always get to knit, things always seem to be popping up or our co-workers popping into our room. I do have to admit we are fun to be with!!! The sky is a bit overcast, I hope that it doesn't rain.

Till then....Happy Knitting!!!

Its been awhile I know....

Ok so I am not real good at this blog thing just yet. But I have been very busy knitting away. You all would be proud!!! Christmas is only about 14 weeks away!!!!! AAAAAAAAAArrrrgh! I have some really nice ideas for some co-workers of mine. I wish I had some pictures to show you, however my 16 yr old daughter has not gotten around to showing me how to "blog" properly. Hopefully very soon though! Words cannot do justice! I have finished up the potatochip scarf from www.knitpicks.com I used sport weight lionbrand Wool Ease in White Frost and I must say am very satisfied with the whole outcome, it will look killer with a nice jean jacket! I can hardly wait for it to get (dare I say it????)chilly!!!! I have also finished up a felted tote for Amanda from the book Pursenalities (mediorce applause) I wasn't to happy with the shaping of it and am thinking of running it through another felting process. I have started the Branching out scarf from http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTbranchingout.html by Susan Pierce Lawrence in a lovely light green and am thinking it would make a nice christmas gift for someone that would appreciate the sweat and tears that I have put into it. Susan states that it is a "fairly simple pattern" and this being my very first venture into lace knitting, I would have to agree. I do however have trouble reading from the chart as she also suggests. When I do work on the scarf I have to have complete silence so that I can count my rows. Oh and i just finished a poncho which I will actually wear!!!! Whew! all this and the new season of NIP TUCK has started (finally) Well hopefully I can coax or bribe my daughter to help me personalize this blog and get some pics up! So until the next stitch..............Ciao

The Beginning

In the beginning it started with one little crochet hook, a teeny ball of yarn, and the patience of a saint (my mother). I was about 8 or 9 yrs old and loved watching my mother crochet, her hands speeding into a blur and the piece of fabric growing larger in her lap. I wanted to be just like her. I have always had a fascination with several different crafts but always came back to crochet. I did however love the look of knit but the needles scared me, how did the yarn stay on????? I am a fairly new knitter, by no means where I would like to be in the world of knitters (ie, Linda Cyr) My mother who I didn't realize could knit taught me before she died 3 yrs ago. I particularly am drawn to felting, probably due to the fact that felting covers alot of mistakes and I am a reluctant frogger. I suprised myself and everyone else in my family by also making several knit afghans. My mom would be very proud!! My 16 yr old daughter is often the recipient of my hard work, tears (ha!) and sweat. I do however have yet to finish her afghan, which I am reminded of constantly. Well it is the last day of summer, and my hands are starting that familiar itch to start knitting. Now which WIP will it be???
