The Beginning

In the beginning it started with one little crochet hook, a teeny ball of yarn, and the patience of a saint (my mother). I was about 8 or 9 yrs old and loved watching my mother crochet, her hands speeding into a blur and the piece of fabric growing larger in her lap. I wanted to be just like her. I have always had a fascination with several different crafts but always came back to crochet. I did however love the look of knit but the needles scared me, how did the yarn stay on????? I am a fairly new knitter, by no means where I would like to be in the world of knitters (ie, Linda Cyr) My mother who I didn't realize could knit taught me before she died 3 yrs ago. I particularly am drawn to felting, probably due to the fact that felting covers alot of mistakes and I am a reluctant frogger. I suprised myself and everyone else in my family by also making several knit afghans. My mom would be very proud!! My 16 yr old daughter is often the recipient of my hard work, tears (ha!) and sweat. I do however have yet to finish her afghan, which I am reminded of constantly. Well it is the last day of summer, and my hands are starting that familiar itch to start knitting. Now which WIP will it be???
